Hi all! How are you today? I am doing well. Let me tell you all about my adventure to surgery-land.
We rose before the sun at 5 am....left at 5:30 as planned and drove to Mom and Dad's where we dropped off Emmy (who was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed) and picked up dad. We drove to my granny's house 10 miles away and switched to her car and she joined us of course. I drove to Little Rock (I like driving) and we stopped 2 times on the way because you see i had to drink some lovely stuff on Thursday. I had to have a liquid diet, then drink citroma (fizzy, citrus high-powered laxative)at 1pm, then nothing to eat or drink after midnight.... which went over well with this ole' gal...let me tell ya! I love food, but more importantly I love to eat the food, and it's just not right to keep me from eating until like 3pm the next day!!!!!
Anyways we get to Little Rock after everyone has been eating and drinking in front of me in the car...we park in the garage and walk 2 miles uphill to the building, go 4 floors up, check in, go to the bathroom again, then something wonderful happened! They gave me numbing medicine for my IV.....that has never happened...I have suffered through so many IV's that it's rediculous.. but this kind lady gave me a tiny shot to numb my arm then did my IV with ease....it was great! Thank you Lord for a wonderful nurse! I waited 2 hours before going into surgery and then it was showtime...they told me I wouldn't remember anything but I do! I remember the surgery room, the staff, my surgeon, changing beds all by myself, and them talking to me! It was great they were so nice and one nurse started talking to me and told me to think of My hubby, and Emmy and me all on a beach in Florida....and then I fell asleep...wasn't that nice of her! I wish I could remember their names!
Anyways when I woke up it wasn't so great.... had to have those wonderful blue bags...lol
My first words when i woke up were "I'm gonna be sick.....hurry!" And I was... then after a while I wasn't waking up like they wanted me to so she put oxygen on me and poured cold water in my face....then she gave me ice chips....and she told me to sit up....I told her I didn't feel good, but she had to answer the phone....i was getting sick again so i got up and walked over and got another blue bag.....she was so surprised that I got it....i said "Honey, I wasn't wearing it and neither were you!" She told me I should be a nurse! Whatever....
So after they tried one medicine that didn't work, they finally gave me finigrin....and then it was Hi Ho Hi Ho off to home we go....
I didn't drive, Jason did.....But I did ride up front. I had forgot that Jason didn't know how to get home....so I didn't get to sleep just yet... After I told the rest of the party to hush, I told my hubby the right way home...I informed the other members that I wasn't stupid, just droggy.
Then when we got well on our way home i was very hungry...I wanted food...not liquids or soft stuff....I mean food! But once again the othern members of the party were answering for me and told me what I couldn't handle and couldn't do....and once again I told them I was the one who had surgery and who hadn't ate....to hush! So we went to eat at Chili's!!!! lol...too funny right! And guess what I ate....a steak, dirty mashed potatoes, a salad, bread, and a chocolate milkshake..o and a dr. pepper......yep that's me! Prove 'em wrong! And I didn't get sick!
Then I slept til we got about 30 minutes from home and we stopped for ice cream!
When I got home and settled I went to bed and Jason has been so wonderful yall! I'm glad he has been here...He has been waiting on me, taking care of Emmy, and helping me up and down and just being so sweet. I've already had a shower and am going to eat again soon! I even ate pizza late last night!
Now for my results.... my right ovary was fine, but my left ovary was covered with endometriosis. They also had to burn off some on my cervix and uterus. They removed 2 large masses (endometriums)...
Now to fill you in on all this..... this procedure will help me for a while...this isn't permanent at all. When you have endometriosis it grows each month with your cycle. There's nothing that will stop it except for a complete hysterectomy....but I am too young for that. They have tried everything as far as medicine goes...so this is the only thing to do for me til it grows back enough for them to do it again.... So I don't want you to think that this is it...I have already had this done once before 3 years ago and I am just now getting them to do it again...I have been on them for over a year to clean me out again...maybe next time I need this they will do it completely.
I will be back on in a few days when I am getting around a little better and have more energy.
Thank you so much for all your prayers and kind words, thank you mom for updating my blog, and thank you to those of you who have emailed or called or commented. You guys in Bloggy Land are so kind and wonderful....thank you again.
Love Jess

Glad y'all are doing good today, Babe. You know where I'm at if you need me.
Mama loves y'all. :o)
Hey I bet your tush(and other parts) is sore. I know your tummy is.
I'm glad you felt good enough to blog a little.I always wanted to eat right after waking up. They try to starve you before and right after surgery.
You know what comes next. It runs in the family, and you got it too.I feel for you, you know how long I fought it.
Love you, Donna
Happy happy happy
I am so happy you are ok...
Take a rest and get well

Hi Jessica, glad you are finished with it, at least for now! I didn't realize that it comes back with each month.
Someone mention Chili's to me and I don't care if I'm barfing my guts out, I'm goin'!
Get rest! and God bless,
Brenda :)
I don't think I've ever heard of anybody being able to eat steak and so much more right after having had surgery! lol The anesthesia alone makes me feel so sick after I wake up, I can't eat for weeks after! I'm so glad that you're now home and recovering. Thank you for explaining about the procedure...I'd heard of endemetrosis but never known anybody with it. I didn't realize it just grew back!! Hopefully they will do the complete surgery next time as I'm sure you don't want to have to go through this every couple of years!! Take good care of yourself and you've got a good man in Jason!!! xoxo
Hi Jessica!
I was so surprised to see your comment on my blog! Glad you are up and about a little and that this is behind you, at least for a few years. Bless your heart...I know it's no fun to have surgery. I had a hysterectomy in 1990 as my uterus had dropped waaaay down....it felt like an egg coming out of me! I was nauseated after that surgery but for throat surgery I never got sick at all. They gave me phenergan that time beforehand, as the other hospital should have for the hysterectomy.
I am so glad you are back home and all you can do now is get better!!! God bless Jason! He's a good hubby!!!! I am thinking of you!!!
Love you!
Nancy
I didn't expect to see you blogggin so fast!! Wow!! so good to hear you are home and getting to be waited on and taken care of..that is great. You be sure to get all the rest you need. I would have felt the same way about eating for sure!!!
You take care!!
love, Jenny
I know a little about endimetriosis so I applaud you that you're coping with it as well as you are. I'm really glad and thankful that your operation went well and it sounds like you had some great medical staff there - kudos to them! Amber
Well it sounds like you did just fine. Your mom took care of Emily and kept us informed. I hope you feel better soon, so take it easy. I'm praying that Jason gets a new job soon.
Glad your feeling better. I hope this surgery last for a lifetime!
Hope you have a great wk.
Blessins',Lib
It sounds like all went well and now let's hope it will last longer than the last time did. Just follow doctor's directions and don't try to do too much too soon.
I am glad to hear the surgery went well. Take it easy over the next few days.
Gill from Canada
Now that doesn't sound like a fun day at all! But I'm glad it's over. I wish it were over for good!
YOU SEEMED TO HAVE the exact operation that my mother had, i rememember one overary in a blottle at home because she had that endomatheis stuff all over it and it couldndn't stay in her body...she didn't let it get her down, just like you
Good morning Jess,I am new to your place and found your name from visiting Betty...I am a retired nurse and there are some great nurses around..I am glad you were taken care of by some good nurses.Wishing you a speedy recovery and less pain..I am going to read and learn more about you. Come visit my place when you are feeling better...Hugs, Baba
I am glad to hear the surgery went well.Steven
Praise God. He is so merciful and powerful. I am delighted to hear that you are ok. I pray this surgery will last for many- many years and with the Lord it could last forever, so you never need to have it again.
I pray ypu will have a fast recovery too.
God bless you and yours
Honestly, you make this sound like it was fun, Jess. LOL I'm sure it wasn't, but I'm glad you were able to make the best of a pretty lousy situation.
I never heard of anyone as young as you having such endometriosis. Let's hope this latest surgery holds you for a while.
Glad you were feeling well enough to eat out on the way home. That cracks me up, but hey! When you're hungry, you're hungry. Good for you!
Now take care of yourself and get better soon.
